about The 1st Annual ATW Awards

If you think I'll be talking about Awards Season 2006, think again!

Just in case anyone shoots me for being a copycat, I admit that I am one... Hahahax... Jo & Hil's awards presentation inspired me to do this. And I just had to do it.

Why?

  1. As all know, I'm an Awards Freak!!!
  2. As a closure to 2005, it's a perfect way to affirm people, which I have not been doing enough.
  3. You would be more interested in this awards ceremony than if I were to talk about my predictions for the Oscars. Admit it.

So, to close 2005, Welcome to the first ever ATW (Addison Thomas Wong) Awards!

***NOTE: There was supposed to be just the top few in each category. But for the fun of it (and because I'm obsessed with the traditional awards system), let's have a winner. Hahax... but don't take it to heart if you're not the winner cause it's just for fun and... You're the top few!

.

2005 ATW AWARDS:

BREAKTHROUGH MALE FRIENDSHIP OF THE YEAR

Winner: Joel Er

  1. Aaron Poon
  2. Mark Tan
  3. Elvin Ho
  4. Aloysius Moy

(Runners-Up are in no particular order)

In just a few months, Joel was promoted from just "Rachel's Brother" to "My Younger Brother". Through the blessings of God, our friendship has blossomed and escalated to a one of the greatest of heights. This young chap has not only broken through barriers and became "someone" in my life, but has become an individual with whom I share one of the most beautiful friendships Ever! Thus, the Breakthrough Award. Here's to you, my bro!

BREAKTHROUGH FEMALE FRIENDSHIP OF THE YEAR

Winner: Yvonne Low

  1. Theresa Yoong
  2. Jacqueline Teo
  3. Michelle Ho
  4. Joyce Ng
  5. Dorothy Tan
  6. Daphne Ng

Too many in this category. It was a really difficult decision because, for me, it was a year of many female friendships blossoming. But Yvonne wins because she is someone whom I've known for way too long not to establish the closeness we have now with. (there's nothing wrong with that sentence, fyi) As said during MPM's day of recollection, she used to be someone I was rather intimidated by. Her stern and serious look, her "queen of England" walk, her quiet composure, the professional and intellectual tone in her speech... and her STARE (the raised eyebrow)! She was a closed book to me. But now, I am so proud to have seen the fun and jovial side of her - the true Yvonne, who's now one of the closest friends I have in Maranatha and in life. To go from closed book to where she stands in my friendship list now, THAT'S a real breakthrough. Congratulations, Yvonne. Love you!

MALE FRIENDSHIP OF THE YEAR

Winner: Joel Er

  1. Dannel George
  2. Ignatius Koh
  3. Aloysius Chia
  4. Eef Van Emmerik
  5. Benedict Long

That's right! It's Joel Again! Just when you thought what I wrote above was all I had to say about the small one, think again. It seems like size really doesn't matter! Hahahax!!! Ah, Joel. It seems like the fun times we share never come to an end (and I hope they never will). We always seem to have something to talk about, something to share, something or someone to make fun of, something to do together and many things to gossip about. Like I had said at the day of recollection, one of the main reasons why the year 2005 was a beautiful and memorable one for me was because of the impeccable friendship I share with you. Wonderful memories... The 3 hour wait beore Harry Potter, the enjoyable experience of treating ourselves to and trying new drinks at Cafe Cartel on comfy couches, the Lady Marmalade dance at Ben Long's party, the long wait to be served at the printing shop to print our Christmas gift for MPM, the long and hearty conversation at the hike at MacRitchie (the one that aloy planned on a weird Friday), planning our prayer session for Prayer Walk together... all the fun-filled times! Thanks for them! So glad to have shared them with you! Love You and congratulations!

FEMALE FRIENDSHIP OF THE YEAR

Winner: Rachel Er and Lynette Chen (TIE)

  1. Joann Chia
  2. Annabel Lee
  3. Jeanette Tan
  4. Lara D'Souza
  5. Pamela Woo
  6. Theresa Yoong
  7. Daisy Khng
  8. Yvonne Low

Somehow, females always seem to fill up most of the spaces in my list of friendships and it is darn difficult to choose. I can nominate many, but it's just so darn difficult to pick a winner. Thus, the tie. hahax... (sorry Joann, a tie between only two ever happens in awards shows and never between three. But you know I love you!)

Rachel, oh Rachel. For the second consecutive time, you've won this award. (ok, this is the first time I've done this... but needless to say, for 2004, you were the biggest winner, winning the awards for FEMALE FRIENDSHIP OF THE YEAR, BREAKTHROUGH FEMALE FRIENDSHIP OF THE YEAR and MOST PROMISING FEMALE FRIENSHIP OF 2005) Most promising friendship for 2005 and rightfully so. I think this year, our friendship has reached a level where we know that we'll be there for each other no matter what, at least I know I will. And I look forward to journeying this year with you, with countless and unexpected obstacles which we already know will come our way. It's through difficult times that closeness is established, they say. We've covered being close through fun times and it has already been a big hit. What can we expect from difficult times we'll be facing together? I gleefully smile at the thought of it.

Lynn! Ahhh... you know I love you. I couldn't live a huge part of my life correctly til today, if it weren't for you! (you know what I'm refering to) And it has been just such a joy arguing with you, joking, sharing, banging, teasing and having serious conversations with you. So many wonderful memories since 2002. You're a gift, Lynn. You are. And a true blessing in my life. I guess I don't express how much I appreciate you enough... at times I even take you for granted. Hopefully this award expresses enough how much you mean to me and make up for times when I wasn't there for you. Sometimes, when I really have a lot to say to someone, amidst all the information, I get stuck. But you know how much you mean to me lah... if not, please call 91070534 and we'll make an appointment to discuss it over tea. Hahahax... Thank you for visitng Addison's blog, congratulations and have a nice day!

Hey ho, Ben! At times, I shudder to think of what a shame it is that we've known each other for a good half a year already(?) and yet we haven't had the opportunity to actually establish a proper friendship. hmmm... Unofficially, I suppose that's one of the resolutions I have for 2006 (darn, I told myself not to have any resoutions... haiz. inevitable.) But anyways, hopefully, opportunities will come for us to actually get around establishing a friendship. yup, yup... okok, I shouldn't say so much.
